Banner Health is hiring Registered Nurses for the New Graduate RN Residency Program, a full-time, paid position designed to transition new graduates into fully competent professional nurses. This is an accredited program that has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP).
You will be placed in PCU 4D, a 37-bed progressive care unit that provides continuous cardiac monitoring to patients recovering from critical medical conditions. The unit receives patients from the emergency department, direct from the community, post-surgical, post-procedural, ICU downgrades, and medical-surgical or observation upgrades requiring a higher level of care. This is a fast-paced environment where you will develop clinical skills while providing direct patient care.
Program Overview
The Banner Health New Nurse Experience (NNE) provides a collaborative learning environment where you will refine nursing skills, enhance knowledge, and develop professional relationships. You will be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators while building toward full competency. The program offers multiple career pathways and development opportunities, whether you are interested in specialty units, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing, or other nursing sectors.
Expectation: You must commit to staying on your assigned NNE unit for at least 12 months to receive a full and comprehensive training experience. You must also live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility where you are hired.

Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
- Review patient history and physical with patient and family; ensure completion within appropriate timeframe
- Review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
- Formulate a plan of care including discharge planning using assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team
- Initiate care plans based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and medical plan of care
- Develop realistic, measurable goals in conjunction with patient and family
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision
- Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely, legible, and policy-compliant manner
- Provide care based on best available evidence and may participate in research activities
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership
- Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
- Support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
- Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
- Actively participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
- Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient health care
- Work with clergy to provide spiritual support
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family response to health status changes
Schedule
Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members.
Shift Options
- Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Required Qualifications
- Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Current BLS card (through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
- No more than 12 months of RN experience
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Previous clinical healthcare experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); open to Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) at select locations
- Professional certification
- Additional related education and/or experience
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, benefitted, and paid position.
Shift Differentials
- Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential
- 18% night shift differential when applicable
