Registered Nurse RN New Graduate PCU General

Banner Health is hiring Registered Nurses for a New Graduate RN Residency Program on the General Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Sun City West, Arizona. This is a full-time, day shift position (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) designed specifically for new graduates to transition into professional nursing practice.

The New Nurse Experience (NNE) program at Banner Health has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). You will work in a collaborative learning environment with clinical mentorship, structured training, and comprehensive support to develop your nursing skills and knowledge.

Clinical Setting

You will be assigned to the General PCU, which includes a 12-bed private room unit and a 29-bed semi-private room unit. The unit participates in the Progress In Place initiative, meaning you will care for patients with a variety of medical conditions across both Medical Surgical and Progressive Care acuity levels. Patient populations include post-surgical patients and those with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, pancreatitis, renal failure, and hypoxia.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
• Review patient history, physical examination findings, and available diagnostic and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team
• Provide direct patient care based on physician orders and nursing plans of care in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Delegate appropriately and supervise the activities of other licensed nurses and healthcare team members
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
• Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
• Participate in evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
• Interact and collaborate with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts

Required Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in Arizona, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
• No more than 12 months of RN experience
• Ability to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted at select locations
• Previous healthcare experience
• Professional certification

Schedule and Shifts

• Full-time position
• Day shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend and holiday rotations required
• Expectation to remain on the NNE unit for at least 12 months for comprehensive training

Compensation and Benefits

• Full-time, benefitted, paid position
• Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential
• 18% night shift differential when applicable
