Registered Nurse (RN) - New Graduate - Oncology

Join the 6 Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in our 40-bed oncology unit. This position offers new graduates the opportunity to provide compassionate care to patients with leukemia and hematologic/oncologic conditions (HOA service). The HOA service specializes in symptom management for cancer patients, addressing treatment side effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, infections, and failure to thrive. You will work as part of a supportive team dedicated to delivering evidence-based, therapeutic care to patients and their families.

Clinical Setting

The 6 Cancer Center is a 40-bed oncology unit with 20 beds dedicated to leukemia services and 20 beds dedicated to hematologic/oncologic services. The unit is part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, an 885-bed tertiary care hospital and National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Winston-Salem, NC.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
• Lead efforts to create a safe patient environment and optimize patient experience

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 35.1 hours per week
• Night shift
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every 3rd weekend required

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour
• Base compensation determined by qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
