The opportunity

Job Description

Banner Casa Grande Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse New Graduate for its Outpatient Observation-North department. This full-time position is part of Banner Health's New Nurse Experience (NNE) program, an ANCC-accredited Practice Transition Accreditation Program designed to support new graduates in transitioning to fully competent professional nurses. You will work in a 43-bed Medical Surgical department alongside a 28-bed Observation department, with opportunities to float to the Progressive Care Unit as needed. The team is patient-centered and family-oriented, caring for a variety of medical, surgical, and observation patients.

This is a comprehensive new graduate residency program that provides clinical mentorship, hands-on training, and structured support to help you build your nursing career at Banner Health.

Program Overview

The New Nurse Experience is a collaborative learning environment where you will refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop professional relationships. You will be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators while receiving support to transition into a fully competent nurse. Banner Health offers multiple career pathways and development opportunities, whether you are interested in specialty units, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing, or other nursing sectors. You are expected to remain on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to receive a full and comprehensive training experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
  • Review patient history and physical with patient and family; ensure completion within appropriate timeframes
  • Review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
  • Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient need and policy
  • Formulate a plan of care including discharge planning using assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team
  • Initiate care plans based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and medical plans
  • Develop realistic, measurable goals in conjunction with patient and family
  • Consider physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs in care planning
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision
  • Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
  • Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision to licensed nurses and other personnel
  • Promote continuity of care through accurate and complete communication of patient status to other caregivers
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed
  • Evaluate patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with health care team members
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient records in a timely, legible, and policy-compliant manner
  • Provide care based on best available evidence and may participate in research activities
  • Participate in unit or facility shared leadership
  • Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
  • Promote and support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
  • Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
  • Actively participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient health care
  • Work with clergy to provide spiritual support
  • Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards
  • Provide excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors

Schedule

  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • Holiday rotation with other staff members
  • Self-scheduling tool available for shift and weekend coverage
  • You must live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility

Required Qualifications

  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
  • Current BLS certification through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI, or ability to obtain certification before start date
  • No more than 12 months of RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted at select locations
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Professional certification
  • Additional related education and/or experience

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, benefitted, and paid position.

  • Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential
  • 18% night shift differential when applicable
