Registered Nurse RN New Graduate Neuro PCU

Banner Health is hiring Registered Nurses for the New Graduate RN Residency Program, a comprehensive transition program designed to support newly licensed nurses as they develop into fully competent professional nurses. This full-time, paid position is placed on the Neuro-Stroke Progressive Care Unit, a nationally certified Primary Stroke Unit by the Joint Commission.

Clinical Setting

The Neuro-Stroke Progressive Care Unit is a three-wing, 74-bed telemetry unit providing acute care for stroke and neuro patients, as well as cardiac, medical, and post-surgical patients. This is a high-acuity unit with significant learning and growth potential.

Program Overview

Banner Health's New Nurse Experience (NNE) Program has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). The program provides a collaborative learning environment where you will refine nursing skills, enhance knowledge, and develop professional relationships while transitioning to independent practice.

Program Activities

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
• Review patient history and physical with patient and family; ensure completion within appropriate timeframe
• Review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate a plan of care including discharge planning using assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities
• Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide care based on best evidence available and may participate in research activities
• Participate in unit or facility shared leadership
• Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
• Promote and support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
• Actively participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
• Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient healthcare

Schedule

Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members.

• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Program Commitment

You are expected to remain on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to receive a full and comprehensive training experience. New graduates must live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into.

Required Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS card (through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
• No more than 12 months of RN experience
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Previous clinical healthcare experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted at select locations
• Professional certification

This is a full-time, benefitted, and paid position.
