Registered Nurse (RN) - New Graduate - Med/Surg Ortho Trauma

Join Aurora Medical Center – Summit's Med/Surg 2 Ortho Trauma Unit as a Registered Nurse providing comprehensive care to medical, post-operative, and trauma patients. This position offers a collaborative and supportive team environment with an exceptional learning setting for newly licensed and experienced RNs.

Clinical Setting

Aurora Medical Center – Summit is a 117-bed facility with over 260 nurses delivering state-of-the-art care. The facility includes a Level II Trauma Center, Brain & Spine Center, Bariatric Surgery, Stroke Care, Advanced Robotics, Women's Services, and a Cancer Center. The Med/Surg 2 unit specializes in post-operative orthopedic and trauma patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making
• Use compassionate communication and skilled clinical judgment
• Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday
• Safe lifting of up to 35 pounds and patient handling tasks including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds
• Ability to assist with 150-pound sliding transfers
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures
• Ability to operate equipment foot controls
• Capacity to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste; appropriate protective equipment must be used
• Physical Abilities Testing and additional department-specific requirements may apply

Schedule

• Full-time position (0.9 FTE)
• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every third weekend
• Alternating holidays
• 36 hours per week

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $38.20 to $57.30 per hour
• Base compensation based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
