Join Aurora Medical Center – Summit's Med/Surg 3 East unit as a Registered Nurse providing comprehensive care to medical and post-operative patients. This full-time position focuses on medical care including cardiac, renal, gastroenteric, and urological patients, as well as management of acute and chronic issues. You will deliver safe, therapeutic care using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making while coordinating patient care through the nursing process and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
Clinical Setting
Aurora Medical Center – Summit is a 117-bed facility with over 260 nurses offering state-of-the-art care in a thoughtfully designed space. The facility provides comprehensive medical services including 24/7 emergency care, on-site specialists, Level II Trauma Center, Brain & Spine Center, Bariatric Surgery, Stroke Care, Advanced Robotics, Women's Services, and a Cancer Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
- Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
- Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions
Schedule
- Full-time, 0.9 FTE
- 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
- 36 hours per week
- Every third weekend
- Rotating holidays
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday
- Ability to safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks
- Ability to push/pull up to 30 pounds and assist with 150-pound sliding transfers
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures
- Ability to operate equipment foot controls
- Ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste; appropriate protective equipment must be used

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour
- Base compensation based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
