Registered Nurse (RN) New Graduate - Intermediate/ Progressive Care Units

Inova is seeking new registered nurses graduating between October 2026 and January 2027 for its RN New Graduate Residency program. This one-year program is designed to prepare you for your nursing career through structured clinical training in acute care settings. You will work on intermediate and progressive care units across multiple Inova facilities in Northern Virginia, expanding your clinical reasoning, communication, and leadership skills under mentorship and support.

Clinical Setting

Positions are available at five Inova facilities:

• Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA
• Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Falls Church, VA
• Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, VA
• Inova Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, VA
• Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA

All shifts are available (day, mid, and night), and you will work in inpatient units only.

Responsibilities

• Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and clinical intuition; promote clinical decision-making development in team members and seek validation from others for complex or unfamiliar situations
• Support and empower patients and families throughout the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end-of-life decisions; advocate for patients' rights and coordinate healthcare services for patient and family transition planning
• Assess patients' learning needs, measure outcomes of patient education, and anticipate ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs to maximize patient outcomes
• Integrate knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families; interpret trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Collaborate in developing and implementing educational plans for identified needs
• Maintain a self-development plan aligned with professional goals and obtain a minimum of six formal contact hours of continuing education annually

Required Qualifications

• Less than one year of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN), or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• If you hold an ADN, you must enroll in an accredited BSN program within 2 years of your start date and complete it within 5 years
• Current Virginia RN license or privilege to practice in Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
