You will be placed in Banner Thunderbird Medical Center's newly constructed East Tower Progressive Care Unit, a 25-bed General PCU serving patients with vascular, cardiothoracic, heart failure, neurological, respiratory, and multisystem medical conditions. This unit bridges intensive care and medical-surgical care, providing advanced monitoring and treatment for a diverse and clinically complex patient population. Patients arrive from ICU step-downs, rapid-response escalations, and direct admissions from the Emergency Department, creating a fast-paced environment where critical thinking is essential.

The General PCU is a state-of-the-art unit designed to support exceptional patient care and an outstanding nursing experience. The unit culture emphasizes clinical excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth. You will work alongside nurses who are adaptable, proactive, and committed to evidence-based care. The multidisciplinary team and strong leadership provide professional development opportunities for nurses at all experience levels.

  • Provide direct patient care based on physician orders and nursing plans of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of care
  • Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision to other licensed nurses and healthcare personnel
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
  • Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide care based on best available evidence and participate in research activities within clinical practice
  • Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to improvement of national nursing quality indicators
  • Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
  • Precept and mentor others when appropriate
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts to support patient care
