Join Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse and launch your nursing career in a state-of-the-art 28-bed unit dedicated to comprehensive cardiac care. This position offers new graduates the opportunity to develop clinical expertise while providing care to both medical and surgical cardiac patients in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Clinical Setting

The Cardiovascular ICU is a brand-new, state-of-the-art unit within Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, an 885-bed tertiary-care hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The unit specializes in caring for patients with complex cardiac conditions and provides exposure to advanced cardiac technologies and devices.

Patient Population and Clinical Experience

You will care for patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, including advanced heart failure, heart transplants, post-arrest hypothermia, and coronary bypass grafting. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced cardiac devices and monitoring systems, including:

  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICD)
  • Impella
  • Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
  • Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and optimize patient experience

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state in which you will practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
