Registered Nurse RN New Graduate Cardiac PCU

Banner Health is hiring Registered Nurses for the New Graduate RN Residency Program, a full-time, paid position designed to transition new graduates into fully competent professional nurses. This role is located in Phoenix, Arizona on PCU 3A, a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit serving medically complex patients with cardiac, pulmonary, renal, post-surgical, and post-procedure needs. The vast majority of patients require continuous cardiac monitoring.

The New Nurse Experience (NNE) program has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). You will work in a collaborative learning environment with clinical mentorship from unit staff and educators, refining your nursing skills and transitioning to independent practice over a minimum 12-month commitment on your assigned unit.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
• Review patient history, physical examination, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team
• Provide direct patient care based on physician orders and nursing plans of care in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision to other licensed nurses and healthcare personnel
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
• Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
• Participate in evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities
• Interact professionally with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts
• Work three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekend and holiday rotations
• Patient care ratio flexes between 1:4-5, most often 1:5

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Night shift with 18% night shift differential
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend and holiday rotations required
• Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential

Required Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI, or ability to obtain before start date
• No more than 12 months of RN experience
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
• Ability to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted at select locations
• Previous healthcare experience
• Professional certification
