Registered Nurse RN New Graduate Adult Acute Care

Banner Health is hiring Registered Nurses for the New Graduate RN Residency Program, a full-time, paid position designed to transition new graduates into fully competent professional nurses. This program has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP).

You will be placed on a specific unit at a Banner Health facility to provide direct patient care under the clinical mentorship of unit staff and educators. The position is located on a 30-bed Med/Surg-4th Floor unit that blends PCU/Telemetry and Medical/Surgical patients in Inpatient, Observation, or Outpatient in a Bed (OIB) status.

Clinical Setting

This is an acute care hospital setting providing care to adult patients with medical and surgical conditions. The unit serves patients requiring telemetry monitoring and general medical/surgical care.

Program Overview

The New Nurse Experience (NNE) Program provides a collaborative learning environment where you will refine nursing skills, enhance knowledge, and develop professional relationships. The program includes:

• Clinical experiences with a preceptor
• Training in the Banner Simulation Center
• Competency and skills assessment and verification
• Orientation to the Cerner electronic medical health record system
• Patient care skills lab with hands-on equipment experience
• e-Learning modules
• Resources for professional and personal development

You are expected to remain on your assigned NNE unit for at least 12 months to receive comprehensive training. Banner Health offers multiple career pathways and development opportunities, including specialty units, leadership roles, and non-bedside nursing positions.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
• Review patient history and physical with patient and family; ensure completion within appropriate timeframe
• Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate a plan of care including discharge planning using assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team
• Develop realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient and family
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision
• Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide care based on best available evidence and may participate in research activities
• Participate in unit or facility shared leadership
• Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors
• Support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
• Actively participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
• Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient health care
• Work with clergy to provide spiritual support

Schedule

Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members.

• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Required Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS card (through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
• No more than 12 months of RN experience
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
• Must live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Previous clinical healthcare experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted at select locations
• Professional certification

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, benefitted, and paid position. Compensation includes:

• Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential
• 18% night shift differential when applicable
• Total Rewards Compensation Package including health, dental, and vision insurance (if desired)

• 401(k) matching

Benefits begin the first of the month following your start date.
