Registered Nurse RN - Neuro Med/Surg - Full-Time - Nights - Bayfront Hospital - St Petersburg

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical Neurology unit at our St. Petersburg location. This is a full-time position working day shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.

This is a fast-paced, clinically intense unit specializing in the care of neurological conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, head injuries, epilepsy, and other cognitive disorders. The unit is the area's only Level 4 Epilepsy Center, utilizing advanced video EEG monitoring to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. You will work with a patient ratio of 1:6 with nursing assistant support and charge RN support available.

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a 480-bed teaching medical center and comprehensive tertiary care facility serving St. Petersburg and surrounding communities for over 100 years. The hospital is nationally recognized for emergency medicine, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, women's services, and advanced surgical specialties. It operates a Level II Trauma Center, the only adult trauma center in Pinellas County, and is one of Florida's 13 state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Centers. Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care based on patient responses and progress toward expected outcomes
• Function as a patient and family advocate
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served
• Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician as needed
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively plan and manage patient care
• Serve as a role model for staff and support hospital and nursing department goals
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and assess patient data to identify age-specific care requirements
• Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to other team members
• Document patient care in a knowledgeable and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient care and unit equipment
• Prioritize patient care in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care
• Validate telemetry rhythms each shift
• Identify and resolve problems effectively
• Delegate tasks to healthcare team members according to patient needs and team member qualifications
• Communicate appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other healthcare team members
• Provide compassionate and therapeutic care for patients and families
• Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patient rights
• Collaborate with education department and nursing leadership to support new team members and students
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards
• Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
• Contribute to the knowledge and skills of others and continuous improvement of healthcare quality and organizational outcomes
• Participate in and may lead unit-level and organizational-level committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement
• Participate in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice
• Practice efficient use of supplies and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Attend staff development in-services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings
• Partner with nursing leadership to identify professional development needs
• Assume responsibility for professional development and continuing education

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
• One year of RN experience
• Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department
