Aveanna Healthcare, one of the largest private duty nursing companies in the nation, is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver skilled nursing care in home-based settings. As an RN, you will provide and coordinate quality patient care in accordance with physician orders and developed care plans while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders
- Continuously observe and assess patient condition and care needs, reporting changes to supervisors or physicians as appropriate
- Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses, and care coordination in a timely manner using electronic tablets provided in patient homes
- Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans
- Implement appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment to achieve expected outcomes
- Recognize changes in patient needs and implement preventive or risk-reduction care
- Apply infection control measures according to OSHA standards to protect staff and patients
- Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies
- Maintain professional competencies through participation in educational programs, continuing education, and skill evaluations
- Comply with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies, and the Nurse Practice Act
Clinical Setting
This is a home-based private duty nursing position. You will work in patients' homes, delivering skilled nursing care to children and adults.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state where you will practice (compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days)
- Current CPR certification with hands-on component (Aveanna can assist in obtaining this after hire if necessary)
- TB skin test current within the last 12 months
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
- Ability to travel to patient homes
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to perform prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
- Ability to sit and climb stairs
- Visual and hearing acuity
- Strong sense of smell and touch
- Ability to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations in the home or during transport
- Ability to function in various environments with possible exposure to allergens, blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
State-Specific Requirements
- South Carolina: One year of pediatrics experience
- California: One year of experience required working under current nursing license
- Louisiana: One year of experience required working as a licensed nurse
- Continuing education as required by your state
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of prior hands-on nursing experience
- Six months of recent experience as a licensed nurse in a clinical care setting
- Home health experience
