The opportunity

Job Description

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Black River Operating Room. This position offers a stable Monday-Friday day shift schedule with no on-call duties, making it an excellent opportunity for nurses seeking work-life balance in a surgical services environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Operating Room at Black River Medical Center, providing perioperative nursing care to surgical patients. This is a 40-hour-per-week position with a consistent day shift schedule and no call requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver age and developmentally appropriate care
  • Provide patient and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching, and evaluate goal achievement
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, and professional behavior
  • Participate actively in the professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and professional development
  • Apply care management principles to coordinate effective and efficient delivery of patient care services
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum one year of work experience as a registered nurse
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
  • RN experience in Surgical Services required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, and conducting physical exams
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed
  • Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors
  • Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues and perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions
  • Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of patient care
  • Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms and other facility areas
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday
  • Day shift
  • No on-call duties
