REGISTERED NURSE - RN MS/TELE Respiratory

This is a 13-week travel nursing contract for a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical Telemetry with a focus on respiratory care. You will work nights (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) on a 42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit at a hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Clinical Setting

The Medical Respiratory Unit specializes in acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The unit includes a main 42-bed area with a 1:6 nursing ratio and an 8-bed respiratory step-down unit with a 1:4 nursing ratio. You will provide care to patients with pneumonia, shortness of breath, COPD, and other lung diseases. The unit also treats medical patients with GI issues, diabetes, and occasionally stroke and surgical patients. Daily interdisciplinary team rounds support comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to respiratory and medical patients
• Participate in daily interdisciplinary team rounds
• Be willing to float to other units and hospitals as needed
• Work every other weekend
• Work holidays as required

Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week (your choice)
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as required
• 13-week contract with projected start date of June 29, 2026 and end date of September 20, 2026

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing
• Registered Nurse license in Alabama or Compact license (temporary licenses not accepted)
• NURSYS registration
• AHA BLS certification or Red Cross certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in respiratory nursing specialty
• 2 years total nursing experience preferred; however, 18 months of experience may be considered if you have 1 year of recent specialty experience

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals
• Parking is available
• EMR system used: Meditech
• Dress code: Solid navy scrubs
• This is an in-office, patient-facing clinical position (not remote)
