Registered Nurse, RN - Med/Surg - Nights - Bayfront Hospital - St Petersburg

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg unit (A2) to provide acute care to inpatient and observation patients. This is a full-time night shift position working three 12-hour shifts per week at our 480-bed teaching medical center in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Clinical Setting

Bayfront Hospital is a comprehensive tertiary care facility serving St. Petersburg and surrounding communities for over 100 years. The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and one of Florida's 13 state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Centers. The Med/Surg unit provides care to patients receiving active treatment for injuries, acute illnesses, medical conditions, and post-intervention recovery.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized care plans based on patient responses and progress toward expected outcomes
• Provide direct bedside nursing care appropriate to patient age and acuity
• Function as a patient and family advocate
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage patient care
• Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members
• Document patient care including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures in compliance with regulatory standards
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient care and unit equipment
• Prioritize patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care
• Identify and resolve problems effectively
• Provide compassionate and therapeutic care in a safe environment
• Maintain awareness of legal issues and patient rights
• Support new team members and students in collaboration with the education department and nursing leadership
• Contribute to continuous improvement of nursing practice and organizational outcomes
• Participate in unit and organizational committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement
• Attend staff development, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings
• Maintain efficient use of supplies and a clean, safe, organized work area
• Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician as needed
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Current Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
• One year of RN experience required
• Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit

Note: Newly licensed RNs with less than one year of experience are encouraged to explore Nurse Resident positions.
