Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time night shift position in Medical-Surgical Acute Care, Post-Surgical, Burn, and Bariatric services. This is a 12-month Nurse Residency Program (NRP) position designed for new graduate RNs with less than 6 months of professional nursing experience. Qualified candidates for night shifts are eligible for a $20,000 bonus.

Clinical Setting

You will work on a specialized unit providing care to patients in medical-surgical acute care, post-surgical recovery, burn care, and bariatric surgery populations. The unit operates within an integrated health system in Georgia and follows evidence-based practice standards and the Wellstar Professional Practice Model.

Nurse Residency Program

The 12-month residency program is structured to support your transition into professional nursing practice. You will participate in:

  • System Orientation
  • Core Nursing Onboarding Sessions
  • Specialty Onboarding Sessions
  • Monthly NRP sessions

You will receive support from Unit-Based Leaders, Professional Nurse Educators, an Assistant Nurse Manager, an NRP RN educator, a Site Coordinator, and a Unit-Based Preceptor trained to support your professional role transition, strengthen your nursing practice comprehension, critical thinking, and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to provide individualized patient care
  • Provide patient and family-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity
  • Partner with patients and significant others through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching
  • Coordinate safe, quality patient care delivery and timely documentation
  • Participate in interdisciplinary communication and rounds
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Participate in and support performance improvement initiatives and shared governance
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education
  • Promote evidence-based practice and nursing research
  • Participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to support evidence-based practice
  • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
  • Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies in accordance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics

Schedule

  • Full-time, night shift position
  • You are expected to successfully complete the 12-month residency in the unit in which you are hired

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Less than 1 year of RN experience (new graduate RN with less than 6 months of professional nursing experience preferred)
  • Active Georgia RN license (single state) or RN multi-state compact license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS Instructor certification
  • Must be licensed and knowledgeable in the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree

Compensation

  • $20,000 bonus for night shift qualified candidates
