Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time day shift position in Medical-Surgical Acute Care, Post-Surgical, Burn, and Bariatric services. This role is part of an interdisciplinary care team dedicated to providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. You will practice within a clinical environment supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model and Professional Practice Model, with care guided by evidence-based practice and research.
Responsibilities
- Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized patient care
- Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics including age, gender, disease, and cultural diversity
- Partner with patients and significant others through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and goal-focused care planning
- Practice using current clinical practice standards
- Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care through diverse communication methods and timely documentation
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner that supports recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
- Participate in and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance initiatives
- Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and students to ensure a qualified workforce
- Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement
- Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards
- Participate in data collection and evidence-based practice activities to address clinical questions
- Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum
- Participate in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes
- Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
- Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- Active RN license (Single State or Multi-State Compact)
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with excellent customer service abilities
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to optimize use of technology to support clinical care
Education
- Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
