Texas Health Allen is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Department. This 25-bed unit provides fast-paced, high-volume care to post-surgical patients including those recovering from orthopedic, spine, plastic, and general surgery procedures, as well as general medical overflow patients. You will work in a robust, engaged unit environment with strong leadership and an active Unit Based Council.
Clinical Setting
The Medical Surgical Department is a 25-bed acute care unit at Texas Health Allen, an 88-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital in Allen, Texas. The unit serves patients in the immediate post-operative period and provides general medical care across multiple surgical specialties.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process
- Assess patients and plan individualized care
- Implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided
- Incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care
- Initiate action to meet patient and family information needs
- Maintain continuity of care across shifts, between facilities, and during patient transfers
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Days shift: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekends and holidays required
Required Qualifications
- Nursing Diploma or Associate degree from an accredited nursing program
- Active RN license (required upon hire)
- One year of experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification prior to providing independent patient care, maintained quarterly
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training within 60 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
