Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Tele

Join Aurora St. Luke's Medical/Telemetry unit (4CD) as a Registered Nurse providing comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced, 26-bed acute care setting. This role is ideal for nurses seeking to develop clinical skills while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team. You will care for a diverse patient population with acute and chronic conditions including COPD, CHF, chest pain, diabetes, wounds, cellulitis, stroke, pneumonia, and minor surgical patients. Most admissions come through the Emergency Department, providing excellent learning opportunities.

Clinical Setting

4CD is a Medical/Telemetry unit comprised of both private and semi-private patient rooms. The unit serves as a hub for acute care learning with a diverse patient population and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
• Use skilled communication to lead efforts in creating the safest patient environment
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient experience and outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 1900-0730
• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• 72 hours per pay period

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday
• Safe lifting of up to 35 pounds
• Patient handling tasks including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures
• Ability to operate equipment foot controls
• Ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste; appropriate protective equipment must be used
