Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Oncology

Join Glens Falls Hospital's C.R. Wood Cancer Center as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Inpatient Oncology. In this role, you will provide compassionate, patient-centered care for adults throughout every stage of the cancer journey, including diagnostic evaluations, chemotherapy, biotherapy, symptom management, palliative care, and end-of-life care. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based treatment within a nationally accredited oncology program.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans
• Organize, manage, and deliver comprehensive nursing care to your assigned group of patients within the scope of the New York State Nurse Practice Act
• Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote positive clinical outcomes and seamless transitions of care
• Monitor patient conditions, implement appropriate interventions, and adjust care plans based on changing needs and treatment goals
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions
• Utilize electronic health record systems to document care accurately and maintain compliance with organizational standards
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively with team members, and ensure safe patient handoffs
• Delegate and supervise nursing support staff appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient care delivery
• Support a culture of safety, teamwork, quality improvement, and professional excellence through active participation in unit and organizational initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program
• Active, unrestricted New York State (NYS) RN License
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or obtained at time of hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required before completion of clinical orientation

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Associate degree holders must complete their BSN within 5 years (RNs with 20 or more years of experience may substitute an advanced certification for the BSN requirement)

• Ability to recognize patient care problems and react appropriately in patient care emergencies
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with nursing personnel, patients, and physicians

• Strong working knowledge of standard healthcare reporting and quality measures

Compensation and Incentives

• Base Salary Range: $38.00 – $62.74 per hour (determined case-by-case based on experience, education, and certifications)
