Registered Nurse (RN), Inpatient - NICU Level 2, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level 2 (Nights)

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our NICU Level 2 team to provide quality nursing care in a fast-paced neonatal intensive care setting. In this position, you will assess, plan, educate, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate care for neonatal patients using family-centered principles and cost-effective practices. You will collect and analyze data from medical records to coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Clinical Setting

This is a night shift position in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Level 2 providing inpatient care to critically ill and high-risk newborns.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive assessments of patients and families, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs
• Collect and analyze data from the medical record to coordinate patient care
• Analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect changes in patient status
• Identify patient needs related to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain management
• Develop individualized plans of care based on nursing assessment and re-prioritize as necessary
• Determine applicable standards of care and practice, coordinating with other health team members
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences
• Execute therapeutic physician or nurse interventions according to established standards
• Evaluate and document patient responses to care provided and progress toward desired outcomes
• Identify actual and potential barriers to learning and utilize appropriate teaching strategies
• Maintain confidentiality concerning patient and family issues
• Act as a resource in educating new employees and team members
• Participate in achieving hospital and unit goals, structures, and priorities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or other degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
• Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact
• BLS certification
• 9 months of professional nursing experience
• Positive and appropriate interpersonal skills
• Good time and resource management skills
• Flexibility and strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of unit-specific equipment
• Knowledge of the nursing process and critical thinking skills
• PALS certification
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous NICU or ICU experience

Additional Requirements

All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
