Registered Nurse (RN) Infusion Clinician-FT-Days

Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Infusion Clinician to join our Oncology Infusion Therapy team in a full-time, day shift position. In this role, you will administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies to patients in an outpatient infusion center setting. You will work under the direction of the Manager of Infusion Therapy and demonstrate clinical expertise in oncology infusion therapy for treating both malignant and nonmalignant conditions.

Clinical Setting

You will work primarily in an outpatient infusion center, though alternate settings may occur. Local travel is required, and float staff may be assigned to different Cobb Hospital departments of operation based on clinical need. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies using current clinical practice standards
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement evidence-based patient care using the nursing process
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is culturally aware and adapted to population-specific characteristics
• Partner with patients and significant others through appropriate teaching methods and keep them informed of care plans
• Address patients' biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs
• Coordinate safe, quality patient care delivery with interdisciplinary teams through rounds, case reviews, and timely documentation
• Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continuing education
• Serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, research utilization, and shared governance activities
• Support evidence-based practice and participate in value analysis for patient care products
• Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies in accordance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association standards, and accreditation requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing practice in direct patient care, or completion of Wellstar RN New Grad Residency
• Chemotherapy competency through an approved provider (Oncology Nursing Society or WellStar Oncology Nursing Readiness and Safety program) required upon hire
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task and function effectively in stressful and emergency situations
• Strong attention to detail in patient care activities and nursing skills
• Time management and personal organization skills
• Computer skills including typing, scanning, and device use
• Ability to be trained to handle hazardous drugs per USP guidelines
• Knowledge of and practice within parameters outlined in the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Delegation skills as defined by Georgia law and Wellstar policy

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree, diploma, or Bachelor's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient oncology nursing experience
• Existing chemotherapy competency
• Oncology nursing specialty certification or 12 continuing education credits annually

Education and Certifications

• Associates degree, diploma, or Bachelor's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
• Chemotherapy competency through Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or WellStar Oncology Nursing Readiness and Safety (ONRS) required upon hire
• Annual chemotherapy competence requirements must be met
• Continuing education in oncology nursing or specialty certification maintenance required

• Float assignments may occur between Cobb Hospital departments based on clinical need
