Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU - Nights

Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the night shift. As an RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care, you will be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. You will practice within a clinical environment guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a critical care environment supporting patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. The role is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and operates within a framework that emphasizes patient-centered care, cultural diversity, and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized patient care
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics including age, gender, disease, and cultural diversity
• Partner with patients and significant others through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and care planning
• Practice using current clinical practice standards
• Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promoting the professional care delivery model
• Participate in diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods including rounds and case reviews
• Complete timely documentation and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and support recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
• Participate in and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance activities
• Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education
• Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for professional nurses and students from all disciplines
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement
• Participate in value analysis and decision-making processes for patient care products
• Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes
• Participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice
• Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum
• Participate in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes
• Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
• Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing
• Active RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS Instructor certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (Instructor or Provisional level)
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with excellent customer service abilities
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
• Excellent time management skills
• Evidence-based nursing practice with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
• Basic computer skills and ability to optimize use of technology to support clinical care

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum 5 years of direct patient care experience
