Registered Nurse (RN) General Surgery Clinic

UP Health System - Portage is seeking a Registered Nurse for our General Surgery Clinic. In this full-time clinic role, you will provide direct patient care in an outpatient surgery setting, supporting patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will work Monday through Friday on day shifts in a quality-focused nursing environment within a 36-bed acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments
• Document patient care provided
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, nursing home, patient, and family as appropriate
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs
• Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients
• Delegate patient care activities to appropriately qualified staff
• Perform prior authorizations on tests, procedures, and medications as required by patient insurance
• Perform other job duties as assigned

Schedule

• Full-time position: 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period
• Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts

Required Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license (or ability to attain within 90 days of hire)
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
• Basic Life Support certification (available upon hire)
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
