The opportunity

Job Description

Fulton State Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to provide forensic psychiatric nursing care to individuals challenged by mental illness. This position offers the opportunity to use evidence-based and best practice treatments while working with a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed treatment team in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Clinical Setting

Fulton State Hospital is located at 600 East Fifth Street, Fulton, MO 65251. The facility specializes in forensic psychiatric care and serves patients living with mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients' mental and physical conditions to ensure quality psychiatric and medical care
  • Teach living skills, medication therapy, symptom management, and health maintenance needs to patients
  • Assign, supervise, train, and evaluate work of Forensic Rehab Specialists, Certified Medication Technicians, and Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Supervise, evaluate, and instruct professional and paraprofessional nursing staff; assist with coverage needs as necessary
  • Develop and maintain correctness of nursing care plans, progress notes, flow sheets, and other required documentation
  • Respond to, participate in, and direct crisis interventions; ensure safety of patients, staff, and the general public
  • Supervise and administer medications and treatments in compliance with physician orders
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment

Required Qualifications

  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse. Recent graduates of accredited nursing programs may practice as graduate nurses until licensure examination results are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first
  • 0-3 years of experience as a registered nurse

Schedule

  • Ability to work assigned schedule which may include a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or required overtime

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $75,856.08-$83,859.36, plus additional security differential and shift differential depending on placement and shift
