Bon Secours is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Endoscopy department at St. Francis Downtown. This position provides perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative support, and post-operative care and discharge instructions.

You will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary surgical team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. Your responsibilities include conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments, managing nursing care within the operating room, coordinating the needs of the surgical team with other care providers, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Schedule

  • 40 scheduled hours per week
  • 4 ten-hour shifts with start times between 6am and 7am
  • Days/Afternoons shift
  • On-call rotation required: average of 4 week night shifts and approximately every 7th or 8th weekend per 6-week schedule
  • On-call response time: 1 hour

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Observe surgery and the surgical team from a broad perspective
  • Assist the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient
  • Manage nursing care of the patient within the operating room
  • Coordinate the needs of the surgical team with other care providers
  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care
  • Provide discharge instructions
  • Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status and determine priority of patient problems and needs
  • Implement clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care
  • Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Associate degree or Bachelor degree in Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of RN experience in a Critical Care Department
  • Completion of an OR internship program
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification at hire (if required by specific surgical department, must obtain within 6 months)
  • CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse certification
  • SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates certification
  • Successful completion of Peri-op 101
