Registered Nurse - RN - Emergency Department - Full-Time Evening Shift 11am-11pm

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a full-time evening shift from 11am to 11pm. As an RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care to patients, families, and significant others. You will practice within a clinical environment guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and the Wellstar Values, while upholding the standards outlined in the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

• Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure individualized care
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics including age, gender, disease, and cultural diversity
• Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching to keep patients informed and focused on their goals
• Practice using current clinical practice standards
• Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promoting the professional care delivery model through diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication
• Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
• Participate in and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all levels
• Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students from all disciplines
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participate in value analysis and decision-making for patient care products
• Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards including TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes
• Participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice
• Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum
• Participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes
• Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of RN experience
• Active RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
• Excellent time management skills
• Evidence-based and analytical nursing practice with strong critical thinking skills
• Basic computer skills and ability to optimize technology to support clinical care

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross Basic Life Support) or BLS-I (Basic Life Support - Instructor)
• RN (Registered Nurse - Single State) or RN-COMPACT (RN - Multi-state Compact)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ARC-PALS (American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or PALS-I (PALS - Instructor) or PALS-P (PALS - Provisional, within 180 days)
• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) or ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) or TNCC-P (Trauma Nurse Core Course - Provisional, within 18 months)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or ACLS-P90 (ACLS - Provisional, within 90 days) or ARC-ALS (American Red Cross Advanced Life Support) or ACLS-I (ACLS - Instructor)

Schedule

• Full-time evening shift: 11am to 11pm
