Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ED) (PRN/Variable)

Texas Health Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department (ED). This is a PRN/variable position in a fast-paced, high-volume department that averages 200 patients per day. You will provide direct patient care in a Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center setting, working with an engaged leadership team and robust Unit Based Council.

Clinical Setting

Texas Health Dallas is an 875-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital in Dallas, Texas. The Emergency Department is a high-acuity setting serving a diverse patient population with specialties including trauma, stroke, cardiac emergencies, and general emergency medicine.

Schedule

• PRN (as needed) with variable shifts
• 3 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Weekend and holiday requirements
• Self-scheduling available to support work-life balance

Responsibilities

• Respond to patients' priorities regarding safety, physical, psychological, and social needs
• Honor the worth of patients through respectful care, including knowledge of patient rights and calling patients by name
• Understand patients' frames of reference and concerns
• Engage families and caregivers in health care situations
• Work collaboratively with physicians, peers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Assist patients and families in understanding and addressing their health and illness concerns through shared problem-solving

Required Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma in Nursing, Associate's degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• One year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program
• Active RN license (Registered Nurse) upon hire
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training annually, completed within 90 days of hire
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ATCN) certification within 6 months of hire
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• High degree of confidentiality and positive interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• One year of RN Emergency Department experience in a hospital setting
