Registered Nurse (RN)

Dover Care Center is hiring PRN and part-time Registered Nurses for our Dover, Tennessee location. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting, managing resident assessments, care coordination, and clinical oversight.

Responsibilities

• Make daily rounds on assigned units at the beginning and end of shift to observe, examine, and interview residents; verify information from the off-going shift; monitor regulatory compliance; and determine staff assignments
• Perform physical assessments of new admissions and residents for changes in condition or as required by regulation
• Ensure provision of resident care including developing appropriate care assignments, monitoring care completion, taking and recording vital signs, monitoring food intake and output, administering medications, and using medical equipment and supplies as needed
• Develop and regularly assist with care plans to promote the highest level of resident physical, social, and mental well-being
• Communicate care plan details, goals, and approaches with the interdisciplinary team; review compliance; consult regarding resident conditions, functional abilities, and preferences; and explore alternative approaches to care
• Ensure proper communication of resident care matters to residents, physicians, family or legal representatives, and other appropriate persons regarding accidents, incidents, injuries, changes in condition, room or roommate changes, treatment, transfers, or discharges
• Train and develop staff by assisting with orientation of new and temporary employees, observing nursing personnel skills, identifying learning needs, and maximizing teaching opportunities
• Maintain proper documentation of care and services delivered, assessments, special circumstances, changes in condition, and accident or incident reports
• Report relevant information to the Director of Nursing or designee including interdisciplinary team functioning, regulatory compliance issues, resident risk factors, changes in resident behavior, expressed dissatisfaction, treatment refusals, injuries, staff behavior, and staffing or equipment needs
• Participate in survey processes including survey readiness, staff conduct and disclosure, responses to information requests, and plans of correction
• Provide for employee and resident safety by monitoring staff compliance with OSHA, hazard communication, and bloodborne pathogen protocols; providing first aid in cases of workplace exposure; participating in fire and disaster drills; and promptly reporting incidents and injuries
• Perform quality assessment and assurance functions ensuring all duties comply with established standards
• Assist with development and updates of policies and procedures
• Carry out responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and facility policies
• Maintain and apply current skills and knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs
• Supervise other nursing personnel including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Serve as indirect supervisor of other staff to the extent their duties involve resident care

Physical Requirements

• Standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 75 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting upper body, walking, running, and carrying
• Use of telephone and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license in Tennessee
• Meets state and federal requirements
• Ability to read and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
• Ability to speak, understand, and read English to the extent necessary to safely and properly care for residents
• Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to organize, document, and implement detailed programs

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of related nursing experience
