Registered Nurse (RN) - Days

AvaMed Workforce is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 6-month contract position at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, CA. You will provide nursing care to incarcerated patients on a medical unit, working day shifts with a one-week orientation period.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the medical unit of a correctional facility, providing direct patient care to an incarcerated population. The role requires familiarity with correctional healthcare protocols, security procedures, and the unique demands of working in a prison environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to incarcerated patients on the medical unit
• Administer medications and treatments with accurate documentation
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with healthcare providers and custody staff
• Follow all safety, security, and contraband procedures

Schedule

• Dates: November 30, 2026 through May 30, 2027
• Shift: Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (day shift)
• 30-minute meal break
• One week of orientation

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license (BRN)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Acute care or medical-surgical nursing experience
• Background check clearance
• Facility security clearance
• TB test, immunizations, and facility health clearances

Preferred Qualifications

• Correctional healthcare experience
