Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a PRN day shift position in Critical Care. As a Clinical Nurse in Critical Care, you will be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. You will practice within a clinical environment guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and the Wellstar Values, while upholding the standards of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized, coordinated patient care
  • Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity
  • Partner with patients and significant others through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching to keep patients informed and focused on their care goals
  • Practice using current clinical practice standards
  • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care through diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner that supports recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
  • Participate in and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance activities
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and students to ensure a qualified workforce and healthy work environment
  • Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement
  • Uphold all organizational policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards including TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems safety absolutes
  • Participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice
  • Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum
  • Participate in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes
  • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
  • Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited or approved school of nursing
  • Active RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) or BLS-I (Basic Life Support - Instructor) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), ACLS-I (ACLS - Instructor), or ACLS-P (ACLS - Provisional) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of current nursing direct patient care experience
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic computer skills and ability to optimize use of technology to support clinical care
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with excellent customer service abilities
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Evidence-based nursing practice with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
