UC Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN - Clinical Nurse I) for the Malignant Hematology unit. This is a full-time position working night shifts at BCHC 3. You will provide direct patient care to adults with hematologic malignancies, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to advance healing and reduce suffering.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Malignant Hematology specialty at UC Health, an integrated academic health system serving Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. UC Health combines clinical expertise with research and teaching, providing patients with options for complex situations. The organization includes UC Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, and specialized institutes including the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse I, you will:

  • Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate culturally based and age-specific patient care using principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences
  • Incorporate the ANCC Synergy Model for patient care to drive nursing practice and optimize patient outcomes
  • Collect patient data and follow established protocols with all populations
  • Match formal knowledge with clinical events to make sound clinical decisions
  • Advocate for patients and families, representing their concerns and serving as a moral agent in identifying and resolving ethical and clinical concerns
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and awareness of patient rights
  • Create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment through vigilance, engagement, and responsiveness
  • Establish patient care goals and teach patients and families about their condition, medications, and self-care skills
  • Maintain a safe physical environment and acknowledge death as an outcome
  • Collaborate with patients, care providers, and multidisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient goals
  • Participate in discussions regarding patient care and practice issues
  • Recognize, appreciate, and incorporate cultural differences, spiritual beliefs, and diverse perspectives into provision of care
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, nursing staff, and the community
  • Implement clinical changes and research-based practices
  • Recognize changing patient situations such as deterioration or crisis

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Ohio RN license
