Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Specialist — Oncology — Tricom & Berkeley Hospital

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Specialist in Oncology for our TRICOM location in North Charleston and Berkeley Hospital in Summerville. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with process improvement and staff development responsibilities.

As an RN Clinical Specialist, you will demonstrate current clinical knowledge and expertise for designated patient populations while maintaining accountability for continued competence in nursing practice and clinical outcomes. You will facilitate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of process-improvement initiatives to promote excellence, ensure patient and staff safety, and enhance quality of care. This position assumes a leadership role in departmental and organizational goals and facilitates ongoing peer review and mentoring programs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to promote quality patient care
• Apply adult learning theory to foster education development of patients, families, staff, and self
• Utilize principles of effective communication and change theory in providing health care consultation
• Use research methods to support and advance nursing practice
• Collaborate with physicians, managers, and other disciplines to promote cost-effective, quality patient care
• Support GI Physiology/Motility Testing, Urodynamics services, Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program, and performance improvement activities
• Facilitate peer review and mentoring programs
• Lead departmental and organizational initiatives

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Days shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on departmental needs

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or related field such as health care administration or business administration (if Master's degree is in an unrelated field, must hold a BSN)
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State (not a permanent resident of SC)
• Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card
• Nursing specialty certification required within 6 months of position start (applicable certifications include approved ANCC clinical specialty or nursing leadership certifications)
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
• Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care
• Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
• Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff, and the public
• Ability to maintain quality control standards
• Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent clinical education or clinical experience
• Oncology experience
