Registered Nurse (RN)- Cardiac Acute Care Unit (CACU)- Full Time, Day Shift, Weekends

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Acute Care Unit (CACU). This full-time position works day shift on weekends, providing direct patient care in a specialized cardiac nursing environment serving pediatric patients.

You will perform the nursing process to deliver safe, effective, age and developmentally appropriate patient-family-centered care. This role functions as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team focused on quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing process across the continuum to deliver age and developmentally appropriate patient-family-centered care
• Integrate values and language preferences into healthcare delivery through a culturally sensitive process
• Utilize clinical decision support tools and resources to recognize issues, prioritize care, and modify the plan of care as needed
• Utilize appropriate documentation tools to record, measure, and retrieve healthcare data
• Provide patient and family education appropriate for identified learning needs
• Utilize resources to plan and provide nursing care that is safe, effective, and financially responsible
• Participate in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice
• Incorporate new knowledge into nursing practice to support desired outcomes
• Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competence and learning
• Self-evaluate professional practice in relation to performance, development, resiliency, and goals
• Provide oversight for nursing care given by unlicensed personnel while retaining accountability for patient care quality
• Engage in ethical practices utilizing principles from The Code of Ethics for Nurses
• Maintain therapeutic and professional relationships with appropriate role boundaries
• Contribute to a supportive and healthy work environment
• Consult, contribute to, and coordinate care with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Demonstrate investment in others through teaching, coaching, and helper roles
• Demonstrate support of shared leadership through awareness of initiatives and providing input
• Drive and effectively facilitate timely admission, transfer, and discharge processes for the unit, ensuring efficient and safe patient flow
• Integrate evidence and research findings into clinical judgment and nursing practice
• Participate in monitoring activities within the work environment to maintain a culture of safety
• Identify and communicate hazards and errors
• Participate in quality and process improvement activities to improve patient outcomes and workflows
• Ensure equipment is in working order to provide safe patient care
• Demonstrate commitment and flexibility through times of change

Required Qualifications

• 12 months of RN experience
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Active Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification within 1 year of employment as required by department

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Additional Requirements

• Complete orientation and initial assessment of competency successfully by determined due date
• Complete mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements as defined by unit and system by due date
• Achieve 75% attendance at staff meetings if applicable
