Frye Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Behavioral Health Intake role at our 83-bed South Campus. In this position, you will serve as the gateway to behavioral health care, reviewing clinical documentation from referrals, accepting patients, and performing initial assessments in a fast-paced environment. You will work collaboratively with experienced clinicians, physicians, and leadership to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to patients seeking behavioral health services and support.
Clinical Setting
The Behavioral Health Services campus is a 24-hour, 83-bed facility providing a safe, therapeutic environment. The setting emphasizes autonomy, professional growth, and healthy work-life balance while maintaining strong physician and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation from referrals and accept patients into the program
- Gather information and make patient determinations in less than 15 minutes in a fast-paced environment
- Perform accurate and timely patient assessments to identify patient needs
- Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments
- Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
- Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
- Perform timely and accurate quality improvement assessments
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 3x12 hour shifts
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
- Set schedule
Required Qualifications
- Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
- Two years of Behavioral Health or Psychiatric nursing experience required
- Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
- Handle With Care certification required within 30 days of hire
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
