Job Description

Join our Operating Room team as a Registered Nurse at Mary Washington Healthcare's Ambulatory Surgery Center. This full-time position offers days and evenings shifts where you will provide direct patient care, coordinate nursing activities, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a surgical setting.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Operating Room of our Ambulatory Surgery Center, caring for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role is designated as a Level II Competent Registered Nurse position within our practice standards framework.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel in assigned or delegated tasks using the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Coordinate involvement of the patient, family, and health team members in patient care, including patient and family teaching and discharge planning
  • Communicate and coordinate the plan of care and pertinent information to and from other healthcare team members
  • Assist leadership in defining standards of excellence for patient care and participate in improvement of patient care services
  • Participate in, contribute to, and integrate performance improvement into care delivery and quality improvement activities
  • Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members
  • Act as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies and procedures to nurses and other health team members
  • Participate in daily operational activities necessary for safe patient and staff environment
  • Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs
  • Participate in unit, departmental, and hospital committees for formulation of nursing and hospital policies and procedures
  • Complete pre-admission testing nursing assessments, including patient verification, procedure verification, and pre-operative teaching
  • Collect and minimally process specimens, including blood collection by venipuncture and dermal puncture from patients of all ages, following proper laboratory standards and procedures
  • Perform electrocardiograms and maintain effective inventory of supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Valid RN license from Virginia or reciprocal compact state
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room RN experience or equivalent
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). A BSN is not required for this position.

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Days and evenings shifts
  • Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends as required

Compensation

  • ASN: $40.59 - $51.65 per hour
  • BSN: $42.32 - $53.86 per hour
