Levine Children's Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), a high-acuity pediatric cardiovascular unit recently expanded from 10 to 20 beds. This unit is ranked #8 in the nation for Best Children's Hospital for Cardiology and Heart Surgery by U.S. News and World Report for the third consecutive year.

Clinical Setting

The CVICU cares for pediatric patients from neonates through 18 years of age with complex cardiovascular conditions. The patient population includes pre-operative and post-surgical repair of congenital heart defects, heart transplant recipients, patients on ventricular assist devices, acquired heart disease, ECMO support, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Staffing ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2. Patients remain in the CVICU until stable enough for transfer to the Progressive Care unit on the 8th floor.

Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC with 247 beds. The hospital features a newly expanded 24-bed PICU, 20-bed Cardiac ICU, 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. The hospital serves as Charlotte's only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and has been named a Best Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 18 consecutive years, with national rankings in 7 pediatric specialties. Both Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children's Hospital hold Magnet re-designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience

Required Qualifications
