Job Description

Commonwealth Home Health Network is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse Administrator to manage the successful operation and growth of their home health services. This role is ideal as an add-on opportunity to an existing position, working 20 hours per week on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule (approximately 40 hours per month). The position is campus-based in Taylor with local travel required throughout the Metro Detroit area.

You will work under the supervision of the Director of Healthcare and manage daily operations including census reporting, referral tracking, staff supervision, and clinical administration. This role combines management, sales and marketing, and clinical responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Management and Operations:

  • Manage daily census reporting and referral tracking
  • Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home care agencies, and physicians
  • Develop contractual arrangements and maintain communication with vendors and partners
  • Conduct in-person and virtual assessments of clients' functional needs
  • Assist with managing coordination of client services and emergent service issues
  • Support budget compliance and financial outcomes including labor expenses, operational expenses, and accounts receivable resolution
  • Identify areas for operational improvement
  • Support, develop, and establish annual goals and workflow for staff
  • Oversee payroll and related approvals
  • Interview, hire, orient, train, schedule, monitor, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff
  • Provide direct in-person and virtual supervision of field staff
  • Create in-service training materials for field staff
  • Participate in ongoing in-service education and staff training
  • Assist the Director of Nursing and Administrator as needed

Sales and Marketing:

  • Develop creative marketing techniques and plans
  • Stay informed regarding competitors' pricing and marketing strategies
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Marketing to create videos, podcasts, and content for Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google, and the CHHN website
  • Participate in developing new business ventures and payer sources
  • Promote agency services and help expand the home care business
  • Make sales calls and evaluate the effectiveness of sales activities

Administrative and Clinical:

  • Assist with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
  • Train employees on Wellsky electronic health record system
  • Provide on-call phone support during and after scheduled hours
  • Review new patient referrals in Allscripts and coordinate with social workers
  • Call all new patients to introduce the company and provide information about available services
  • Contact physicians' offices after receiving referrals to obtain last visit notes and ensure physician sign-off on paperwork
  • Create patient profiles and electronic charts in Wellsky
  • Assign all disciplines to new patients and follow up after start of care
  • Complete diagnosis coding for new start of care orders in Wellsky
  • Ensure all OASIS assessments are completed accurately
  • Perform quality assurance review of all charts (paper and electronic)
  • Complete and export all OASIS documents including recertifications and discharges
  • Send all Notices of Admission within the 5-day Medicare requirement
  • Assist with billing questions and resolve billing errors
  • Track and manage physician paperwork for timely signature and electronic filing
  • Answer phones and emails
  • Verify insurance eligibility for services
  • Follow all procedures and guidelines for patients through discharge
  • Perform additional compliance duties as assigned
  • Understand home care, CMS, and CHAP regulations

Schedule

  • 20 hours per week
  • 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation
  • Day and evening availability required
  • On-call phone hours during and after scheduled hours

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel off-site throughout the Metro Detroit area

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program (RN or higher)
  • Two or more years of nursing practice providing direct patient care
  • Current, valid RN licensure in Michigan
  • Day and evening availability
  • Ability to travel off-site in the Metro Detroit area
  • Ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Sufficient ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy needs and facilitate participation
  • Sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use whiteboard, and use classroom equipment
  • Ability to use current technology to maintain records
  • Ability to achieve or maintain credentials and licensure within expected time frames
  • Professionalism in manner, dress, and conduct as a representative of CHHN and Ross
  • Ability to remain objective and treat all clients and vendors equally
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
