Registered Nurse (RN) Acute Psychiatry Nights

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Acute Psychiatry Unit on the night shift. This full-time position offers a 3 x 12-hour shift schedule from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. You will work with adult patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting designed to provide safety, structure, and stabilization through an interdisciplinary care approach.

Clinical Setting

The Acute Psychiatry Unit maintains an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1, allowing you to provide personalized care. The interdisciplinary team collaborates to deliver patient-centered care that includes therapeutic group activities and creative art therapy as integral components of treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform biopsychosocial assessments on patients
• Provide medications and treatments to patients
• Develop plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Serve as a resource for patients and families regarding medical questions
• Assist adult patients in meeting treatment goals
• Provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice with a focus on safety and therapeutic care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Conduct patient and family education

Required Qualifications

• One year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. If you hold an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), you must complete a BSN within 5 years of the start date.
• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• Proficiency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to display a caring demeanor
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Inpatient psychiatric nursing experience
