We are seeking an Inpatient Staff Nurse to join our acute care team on the night shift. In this fast-paced setting, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective practices.
Responsibilities
- Collect and document patient and family data, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per site protocol
- Collect and document vital signs, height, and weight
- Prepare patients for examination per site protocol
- Assist providers during treatments, examinations, and testing as directed and within scope of practice
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed by physician per site protocol
- Document all medication and immunization administration in the medical record per site protocol
- Provide patient and family education as instructed by the physician or site protocol
- Document patient education in the medical record
- Coordinate referrals
- Triage presenting patient complaints per site protocol
- Verify provider orders and patient identity per site protocol
- Collect and process specimens according to manufacturer's instructions using proper technique
- Demonstrate service philosophies to patients and families
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, OR Associate degree in nursing or related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement, OR Technical Diploma in Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement, OR current enrollment in a Nursing Bridge Program working toward an MSN with verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement
- Active RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- 9 months of professional nursing experience
Additional Requirements
- All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
