This PRN position provides general nursing care to patients in a clinic setting. You will administer medications per standing orders and physician direction, maintain exam rooms, prepare equipment, and assist physicians during patient treatment and examination. You will observe and record changes in patient medical conditions, report findings to physicians, and educate patients and families about procedures and medications.
Responsibilities

- Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during patient treatment and examination
- Observe, record, and report changes in patient medical condition to physicians
- Educate patients and families about procedures and medications
- Prioritize patients displaying changes in medical condition for immediate attention
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and pertinent information
- Ensure pre-op phone calls are made to patients and verify they meet protocol for scheduled procedures
- Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment-related phone calls
- Instruct patients and families regarding medication and treatment instructions
- Monitor patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments, reporting to physicians
- Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in post-procedure patient recovery
- Respond to emergency situations with clinical expertise and professionalism
- Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of patient and organizational data
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital environment
- ADN or BSN degree
- Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols and medication administration
- Knowledge of physical care delivery following treatment plans
- Ability to assess patients with chronic medical conditions and understand pathophysiology
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and patient education techniques
- Skill in intravenous catheter insertion
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting medical records and gathering physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data
- Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms and objective assessment
- Ability to make responsible decisions within the RN scope of practice and clinic protocols
- Ability to provide education materials about procedures
- Commitment to ensuring patient safety at all times
- Ability to communicate openly with providers
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team
Preferred Qualifications
- Pre-op/post-op and surgery center experience
Schedule
- Shifts ranging from 10-12 hours
- Some travel within the community may be required
