The opportunity

Job Description

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for PRN (as-needed) work in the Wound Care clinic. This position involves delivering nursing care to medical patients using the nursing process, with some supervision and coordination of nursing personnel activities according to clinic policies and procedures.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Wound Care specialty within Vanderbilt Health, the region's largest comprehensive academic health system with eight hospitals and over 180 clinics.

Schedule

  • PRN (scheduled as needed)
  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • No weekends or holidays required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care based on the nursing process for medical patients
  • Serve as a resource and role model for team members
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and critical thinking skills
  • Problem-solve and prioritize daily focus of care
  • Make patient assignments and delegate tasks appropriately according to scope of practice, staff knowledge, and patient acuity
  • Utilize critical thinking and reasoning to provide patient care
  • Exhibit caring practices to promote a therapeutic environment for patients and co-workers
  • Promote ongoing education for patients and families
  • Assess and document appropriately according to age-specific guidelines
  • Screen patient population appropriately for referrals and services
  • Adhere to Patient Care Services and Medical policies
  • Reference appropriate Standards of Care
  • Evaluate patient progress toward goals
  • Administer medications safely as per physician orders and protocols according to hospital policy
  • Establish goals for self-improvement
  • Delegate tasks appropriately with consistent evaluation and follow-through

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing work experience
