Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre-Admission Testing department in Nyack, New York. In this role, you will manage, delegate, coordinate, and provide nursing care to patients of all ages using the nursing process and established standards of practice. You will work with patients, families, and the multisciplinary healthcare team to assess, treat, and coordinate care while maintaining clinical competence and patient safety standards.

Clinical Setting

This position is located in the Pre-Admission Testing department at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. You will provide nursing care within the framework of established protocols and system-wide communication standards.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically provide nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice
  • Integrate principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management
  • Adhere to established system-wide communication standards and processes
  • Participate in designated forums addressing patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills related to the area of practice
  • Create positive interactions with patients and demonstrate effective communication with people of different cultures, values, and beliefs
  • Acknowledge customer concerns and take corrective action
  • Participate in department and hospital-wide activities that improve processes and outcomes
  • Demonstrate fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies
  • Complete projects and assignments within projected time frames and expectations
  • Respond to patient needs promptly and provide assistance to patients, families, and coworkers
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to hospital dress code policy

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • 9.5 hours per day
  • 18.75 hours per pay period
  • On-call required for OR, PACU, and Cath Lab

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $55.40 and above
  • Rate subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education, or other relevant factors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree
  • Active Registered Nurse license from New York State Board of Nursing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from American Heart Association required for the following areas: ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS (within 6 months of hire/transfer); PACU (within 3 months of hire/transfer)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification from American Heart Association required for the following areas: ED, Nursing Radiology, and SDS (within 6 months of hire/transfer); PACU (within 3 months of hire/transfer)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification from American Heart Association required for the following areas: Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and NICU (within 6 months of hire)
  • ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) Oncology Nurse Specialist Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider certification required for Infusion Center

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
  • National certification in area of practice

Employment Terms

  • This position is part of the NH-NYSNA bargaining unit
  • Transfer requirements are subject to the NYSNA Collective Bargaining Agreement
