Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Postpartum unit on a full-time night shift. This is a 12-hour shift position providing direct patient care in an evidence-based manner within the scope of practice defined by the California Nursing Practice Act.

Clinical Setting

You will work on the postpartum unit at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley, caring for patients in the immediate postpartum period and supporting their recovery and transition to home.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients by collecting and documenting data through interviewing, history taking, personal needs assessment, and physical examination findings
  • Obtain accurate and relevant assessment screening data and interpret findings as normal or abnormal
  • Determine nursing diagnoses and monitor and evaluate patient data as frequently as needed based on stability
  • Safely perform and document care plan interventions using nursing procedures consistent with standards of care
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and monitor patients for adverse responses and side effects
  • Assess patient and family understanding and document information in clinical records
  • Create and maintain a climate conducive to healing by being present to patients and families, identifying and managing discomforts, and providing emotional support and education
  • Teach patients and family members information needed for self-care and illness prevention
  • Recognize and communicate ethical and legal issues relative to patient care; complete incident reports as needed
  • Safely perform all provisions of care for patients served on the unit, including age-related needs and growth and development principles
  • Attend meetings and serve on departmental and hospital committees as assigned
  • Support achievement of department strategic and organizational goals
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards, which form the foundation of Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley's patient-centered care framework

  • 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Experience

  • Minimum one year of prior acute care Registered Nurse experience
  • Minimum one year of prior OB acute care experience

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current California RN License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

  • Strong communication skills with ability to read, write, and understand the English language

Compensation

Base pay scale: Generally starting at $77.69 - $95.52 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
