The opportunity

Job Description

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PICC Team to provide professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This is a part-time position based at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.

Schedule

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Sunday through Saturday, variable days
  • Rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients
  • Recognize the need for and initiate collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve patient needs
  • Synthesize available data and information to make decisions that optimize patient outcomes based on ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety in accordance with established policies and procedures, utilizing evidence-based practice
  • Participate in evidence-based practice and research projects as applicable
  • Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues
  • Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course to facilitate effective transition of care
  • Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals and objectives
  • Participate in all phases of the performance improvement process, including organizational and unit-based patient experience goals
  • Perform validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice
  • Utilize technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery
  • Demonstrate leadership and team building skills including teaching, mentoring, and precepting new colleagues and department interns as assigned
  • Delegate based on the skills and expertise of team members, patient acuity, and time availability
  • Provide input for performance appraisals of care delivery team members as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care
  • Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
  • Basic computer skills
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification upon hire
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking
  • May be required to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as specific to role requirements
