Registered Nurse, Perelman ED, Per Diem (varying shifts)

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Perelman Emergency Department on a per diem basis with varying shifts. In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting, applying the nursing process to deliver safe, competent, and compassionate care. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess patients, develop individualized care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Collect, assess, and document comprehensive patient healthcare data
• Prioritize patient care based on clinical assessment and data collected
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implement individualized plans of care
• Implement nursing interventions in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner; apply escalation processes when needed
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition; report, document, and evaluate intervention effectiveness
• Educate patients and families regarding health status and the established plan of care; determine learning needs and implement educational plans
• Document all assessments, reassessments, interventions, and learning outcomes in the medical record per hospital standards
• Consider the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultural groups in all care activities
• Demonstrate understanding of unit-based quality measures and nurse-sensitive quality indicators (HAPU, CAUTI, CLABSI, Falls)
• Contribute to unit throughput efficiencies and metrics (door to triage, room turnover, first case starts)
• Delegate appropriately to ancillary staff consistent with New York State Nurse Practice Act
• Comply with unit-based and organizational professional standards, New York State regulations, and requirements of outside agencies including The Joint Commission and NY State Department of Health
• Participate in unit practice councils to critically appraise and influence clinical practice
• Serve as a support and resource for nursing staff and students
• Engage in self-assessment and peer review; utilize resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development
• Adhere to patient care and nursing standards; use clinical practice guidelines
• Comply with annual education and mandatory regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
• Fluent written and spoken English language skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in pertinent professional organizations

Schedule

This is a per diem position with varying shifts.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $1.44 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
