Trinitas Regional Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a day shift basis. In this role, you will provide specialized perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons and an experienced multidisciplinary surgical team. You will function as either a circulating or scrub nurse, combining strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' physiological and emotional needs and develop individualized nursing plans to support safe perioperative care
- Provide circulating and scrub nursing support during surgical procedures while anticipating the needs of surgeons and other surgical team members
- Prepare the Operating Room with instruments, supplies, sutures, and equipment required for each scheduled procedure
- Apply aseptic and sterile techniques and maintain the sterile field in accordance with infection prevention, OSHA, and perioperative standards
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping while advocating for patient safety, dignity, and comfort throughout the surgical experience
- Monitor patients during the intraoperative period and accurately document assessments, interventions, surgical activities, and other required information
- Perform surgical counts, handle specimens appropriately, and follow established protocols to promote patient safety
- Inspect and operate surgical equipment and instrumentation while completing required quality control, routine testing, and safety checks
- Coordinate instrument and supply needs, maintain accurate inventory and tray information, and collaborate with Central Supply to minimize delays in patient care
- Support efficient room preparation and turnover to facilitate timely surgical starts and case progression
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to troubleshoot clinical, equipment, staffing, and workflow needs
- Support new team members through onboarding, mentorship, and clinical guidance while contributing to quality improvement and High Reliability practices
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub nursing responsibilities based on departmental and patient care needs
- Flexibility in supporting departmental needs and participating in required on-call coverage
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential
- Prior Operating Room experience

Schedule and Compensation
- Per Diem, Day Shift
- Hourly pay range: $48.29 - $67.04 per hour
- Compensation is based on educational background, skills, and professional experience
