Registered Nurse, Pediatrics, Day Shift (Per Diem)

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pediatrics on a per diem, day shift basis. In this role, you will provide competent, safe, and compassionate care to pediatric patients while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement patient-centered plans of care.

Clinical Setting

You will work within NYU Langone Health, a fully integrated health system with 6 inpatient locations, a dedicated cancer center, and over 320 outpatient locations across the New York area and Florida. The organization is consistently ranked among the nation's top academic medical centers.

Responsibilities

• Collect, assess, and document patient healthcare data using established nursing process steps including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Involve patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in identifying realistic and measurable plans of care and expected outcomes
• Prioritize care based on collected data and implement interventions in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner
• Consider the specific needs and behaviors of pediatric and culturally diverse patient populations in all care activities
• Document assessments, reassessments, and interventions according to hospital standards
• Educate patients and families regarding health status and the established plan of care; determine learning needs and implement educational plans using EHR education tools
• Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes and recognize changes in patient condition, reporting and documenting the effectiveness of interventions
• Demonstrate understanding of organizational quality and safety performance improvement plans and nurse-sensitive quality indicators such as HAPU, CAUTI, CLABSI, and falls prevention
• Demonstrate understanding of unit throughput efficiencies and metrics
• Comply with unit-based and organizational professional standards, New York State Nurse Practice Act, and regulations from relevant agencies including the NY State Department of Health and The Joint Commission
• Exhibit appropriate judgment in delegating activities and differentiate between activities within the scope of professional nursing practice and those that may be delegated to ancillary staff
• Serve as a support and resource for nursing staff and students
• Engage in self-assessment and peer review; utilize resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development
• Adhere to patient care and nursing standards and use clinical practice guidelines
• Attend unit practice councils and utilize the practice council structure to critically appraise and influence practice
• Comply with annual education and mandatory regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
• Fluent written and spoken English language skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in pertinent professional organizations
